Skola Vareni - Cooking Class

Unique course of cooking of traditional Czech dishes. Under the guidance of our resident cook Nadia, you will spend Saturday afternoon preparing and, subsequently, enjoying several dishes of traditional Czech and Slovak cuisine.

Learn new dishes or brush up on your skills with items such as "knedliky", dumplings, and apple strudel.

Serious interest only. Number of participants is limited since only limited number of people will be able to work in the kitchen at a time.

Nadia will take care of planning and purchase of all raw materials. You will be working directly with her - all stages of cooking, from cutting the fist onion to presenting the food on plate.

Fee of $25 icludes one adult dish of your choice and is due on the day of the class.

Your class will be preparing the following dishes (This is a proposed menu and could change slightly):

Kureci vyvar se zeleninou a domacim kapanim / Chicken broth with vegetables and home-made dripping

Jihoceska Bramboracka s houbami / South Bohemian potato soup with mushrooms

Hlavni chody / Entrees

Hovezi svickova na smetane s knedlikem / Beef tenderloin with cream sauce and dumplings

Veprova pecene s knedlikem a se zelim / Roast pork with dumplings and cabbage

Veprevy rizek s bramborovym salatem / Pork schnitzel with potato salad

Hovezi gulas / Beef goulash

Dezerty / Desserts

Strudl / Apple Strudel

Staroceske buchty s povidly / Old Bohemian Buns with jam

    This Cooking class is part of a bigger afternoon on the same day!

    Come and join us in enjoying an afternoon of home-made cooking prepared by Nadia and her "apprentices" in the well-equiped kitchen of the Trinity Epicopal Church in Ambler, out traditional location. The food will be excellent. You must RSVP so that the cooks know how much food to prepare. See separate posting on the same day, March 3, 2013.

    We'll be showing of a movie which will be introduced by the Hon. Consul of the CR in Philadelphia.
