Thank you all for the massive interest in this group! Our first event will be an exciting one. We have the opportunity to take over a small restaurant/bar on Florida Avenue, and will be hosting a potluck/pop-up food market on Sunday, January 15 from 5-9(ish) p.m. The idea is simple: bring a favorite dishes to share with the group. Please include a sign for each dish with your name, the dish name, and anything people with food issues should know. We will have access to the restaurant's small kitchen, and can take turns using it. We will be laying out the food around the space and turning the restaurant into our own (free) food market open to Meetup members. Please RSVP, and let us know what you will be bringing. Please check back closer to the event, to get a sense of how many people may be coming to adjust your quantities accordingly. We look forward to meeting you all on the 15th. Danny and Noah Thank you to our hosts The Blind Dog Cafe @ Darnell's.

Waaaw... very rich and inspiring as per how we can have fun around food...
The diversity, cultures and creativity embedded within the tastes and chats are definitely reinvigorating... I brought my favorite peanut butter sauce and was extremely happy that it was soo wanted... to the point that I could not bring back a drop of it home...lol

This was a great meetup. All the home-cooked food was amazing, the people were great, and the conversation was excellent. None of us wanted to leave.

I'll be bringing seafood risotto; probably also in a crockpot to stay warm.

And, just to be clear, the restaurant will have plates, utensils, napkins, cups and things to drink for us. We just kindly ask each cook to bring any specific utensils that are needed to prepare, house or serve your dish.

Yes, all dishes, from the amuse bouche to dessert, are most welcome!

Actually I will bring peanut butter sauce (senegalese version) which is all vegetarian and a bit of brown rice... a tasty mix... and then a natural juice as well (sorel) slightly sweetened (brown sugar) to accomodate those who may not want sugar... Wanted to bring a home made cake but will leave it fornext time... Since there is seemingly a lot of desserts coming in, I will make some Tea as well with mint leaves, all natural... mmmm

Hi Lamia - I'm bringing two sweet desserts in individual serving sizes :)

I have a question can we cook something sweet?? Are desserts or cakes welcome??
Also what if many of us bring the same things is there a way of knowing what others are bringing??

Hey all, while we would love to supply you with all the cooking utensils needed, if you require specific items, please bring your own. We cant wait to taste all the food this Sunday.

Hey hey hey... I will probably just need outlets. I am going to bring my main dish in a crockpot so it may need reheating. I will also bring my rice cooker for the side dish as will need to plug that in also.

I will need to heat my dish in the microwave. Curry always tastes better when made the night before. :-) It can be served out of the dish it will be in. So, won't need that.

Thanks for hosting! Should we plan on bringing serving utensils or will the restaurant have all that stuff available?

Hi Danny -- looking forward to this! I'll just need to stick my kettle in the oven to re-heat. Otherwise, all I'll need is a big bowl, a whisk, and a big spoon. ;)

We are excited to host everyone on Sunday! The space is great, but the kitchen is small. There are four burners, a big oven, and a microwave. We can take turns using them, but, ideally, most dishes will arrive ready to go. If you will need access to the kitchen, please let us know soonest so we can prepare. We look forward to meeting everyone Sunday!
