Can ISP's and P2P Work Together

Laird Popkin, Pando Networks

P2P networking poses challenges to many ISP's. The P4P Working Group is a forum for ISP's and P2P networks to find ways to work together in order to make p2p more efficient. The P4PWG is co-chaired by Pando Networks and Verizon Communications, based on research from Yale University. Core Group members include AT&T, Bezeq International, BitTorrent, CacheLogic, Cisco Systems, Grid Networks, Joost, LimeWire, Manatt, Pando Networks, PeerApp, Telefonica Group, VeriSign, Verizon, Vuze, Univeristy of Washington and Yale University. Early results are very positive, yielding up to 2x performance speedups for users, and up to 2x link utilization reduction for ISP's.
