NYC's Civic Tech Community with BetaNYC

On his first day in office, President Obama signed the "Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government." This memo ushered in a new era of open, accountable, and participatory government initiatives. This memo spurred state and local governments to invest in technological tools that increase online/offline engagement opportunities. As part of NYC's initiatives, the city launched NYC BigApps, passed transformative open data legislation, and hired a suite of forward thinking doers to build a 21st century New York City government.

In this DBCx, we bring in two leaders from the City's "civic hacker" community. Noel Hidalgo and Chris Whong, both of BetaNYC, represent two distinct sides on how YOU can take your tech skills and use them to improve the lives of all New Yorkers. Join us as we dive into NYC's Civic Tech Community.
