This multi-talented Grammy-winning trio recently put out their 2nd label album, but is still enough on the fringes that many haven't heard of them. Their music is described as "an updated take on the string band style of music played by African-American musicians in the mid- to late 1800s." It's a mix of banjo, fiddle, jug, beat box, great vocals, and a fresh mix of contemporary style and the traditional country/bluegrass of the old rural south. And I'm not a fan of most contemporary country music, so rest assured that Carolina Chocolate Drops is outside that box. Their 2012 album Leaving Eden is nominated for a Grammy this year.
Tickets are at http://www.ticketmaster.com/Carolina-Chocolate-Drops-tickets/artist/1229819 online or $25 at the box office.
This would be a joint meetup with a 40+ Singles group for which I'm an events host.
