They Might Be Giants

Okay, so it a pricey concert for a duo that began their careers in the 80's in Manhattan by hiring themselves out to rich people to recordi singing messages for answering machines & their most memorable song is a cover of a 1950s nonsense poem from Mad magazine about why Constantinople is now called Istanbul, but they are a fun & energetic band that has done much to advance the cause of public education & they are a perfect way to spend a Saturday night. Also, if you only know them by their studio recordings, their live concerts are energetic, more intimate and a real experience all together. Check out this live recorded version of that Mad magazine poem you can't get out of your head, "Istanbul, Not Constantinople."

I'm astounded by the crowd, after waiting in line for 15 minutes, I won't get in for another 10, so rather than meetup up at the backstage bar, I'll be on the floor, near the bar, stage right.

Yes, I still have a ticket available. It's at Will Call, so give me your name and I'll call and see if I can get it transferred.

Just a reminder, concert is tomorrow night, I'll post more info on set times Saturday morning & for now, with the small group, it might be easier to meet at the backstage bar at 9:30. Worth remember that even though TMBG have been around for a few decades, they were among the original Williamsburg, Brooklyn hipsters, so it's only fitting the opening act is a hot young Jazz trio from Williamsburg, called Moon Hooch.
