Come listen to visionary Roboticist Dr Kumar of GRASP Labs talk about the future of robots (especially flying robots). You can check out his TED talk at http://www.ted.com/talks/vijay_kumar_robots_that_fly_and_cooperate.html . I can't promise that there will be quadcopters playing music at this event, but I can't promise that there won't be either. This event is cosponsored with the awesome DC Robotics Group, which you can check out at http://www.meetup.com/DC-Robotics-Group/
As a student of robotics, I've seen Dr. Kumar speak at conferences and other venues and it's always a pleasure to listen and discuss the new frontiers of robotics. What sets us apart from model flying enthusiasts is our passion to do more cutting edge things with our flying machines, beyond the remote control. Drones are so much more than just R/C aircraft. They are tools that we can use for so many applications. I hope we can all follow in Vijay's footsteps and advocate and promote this technology because who knows, these little flying robot toys can and will make a big impact on our future.
