It was great to finally attend a DC DUG flying event. The posted photos and video are great.
As the group moves more and more into autonomous flight, I'd like to throw out a word of caution for group events. I was a little too shy to ask everyone to turn off their 3DR telemetry radios while I flew, but in hindsight I should have either spoken up or flew without telemetry.
The first autonomous flight of my fixed-wing aircraft went as expected, but the telemetry log showed a great deal of interference. The second flight did not go as expected, so I aborted. I believe I was getting signals telling the autopilot to go into different flight modes.
For shy folks like me, it might make sense to go back to the old pin system--whoever has the pin has the frequency. All others must have their radios off. This would work well for the video systems, too, I believe.
It was a great event. Thanks.

Please, if you have some time tomorrow, could you help me tune up my quad copter before, during, or after the flying party.
Thank you so much for organizing the group buys, the build parties and the workshops, I sincerely appreciate your generosity, your time and your expertise.
I would also like to thank Gus for helping me build my quad and Toby for his encouragement.
Finally, many thanks, Timothy, the board and all the DC drone members user groups.
Have fun tomorrow and enjoy the flying,

I wanted to let everyone know that we may have a number of reporters from different news outlets at Sunday's event, including some television crews. If you are uncomfortable being filmed or don't want to talk to any of the journalists, please let me know at the beginning of the fly-in or email me ahead of time and I will tell them to avoid filming or interacting with you.
This is a great opportunity for us to get the word out about all the positive things we represent as a community, but I will strive to balance this with ensuring that the focus of the event is on all of us getting to enjoy flying together. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Hello everyone! I'm a student at the University of Maryland's journalism school and I'm working on a project about personal drones. Would it be okay if I come to the Fly-In to talk with some of you, get some photos and check out drones in action? Thanks!

Will it be possible to fly fixed-wing aircraft at this location?

Can I use equipment that interferes with the RC signal? Will this location be in an open area as I might need a regular power socket to make it work. Also can I make the person stand next to the equipment while flying? Does it matter if everyone is effected or does it have to target a specific drone?
