Using Flying Robots to Stop Poaching in Africa

This is the new time for the previously scheduled event with Dr. Snitch.

UMD Professor Dr. Tom Snitch will be speaking about his recent trip to Africa where he used drones and predictive mapping techniques to help park rangers protect against poachers. Dr. Snitch recently spoke about his trip on NPR and will go into more depth in his talk with us about the technologies he used and the potential of these techniques for wildlife conservation. He will also be showing footage of wildlife and poachers collected from the UAVs. This event is being co-sponsored with the DC Robotics Group.

Dr. Snitch is a Senior Professor at the University of Maryland College Park's Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. He is also CEO of GeoQuera and a consultant for GeoEye.
