Volunteer to Show Off Drones at the National Museum of the Marine Corps

We are looking for volunteers to demo and speak about their drones at the National Museum of the Marine Corps Robotic Technology Day. Help teach kids about the fun and potential of this technology that we are all passionate about. We are also hoping to get the opportunity to fly around the outside of the museum and do some great aerial photography and videography that we can provide as a community service to the museum, although that part has yet to be confirmed.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I loved this event. Learned a ton, more importantly got to see a wide variety of people get a taste of the "bug". I look forward to getting to know all of you better.

Great turnout by DC Drones! This was a great opportunity to show the public that UAV's have real utility and can be flown safely and responsibly. "Technology Day" at the museum resulting in lot's of questions from the public, and not just the kids either! Many adults engaged all of us there with a wide variety of questions, from the technical, to ethical flying and privacy issues. Most all were very enthusiastic, as were all our reps at explaining that "Drone" really isn't a four letter word! I'm loading a lot of stills from both inside during the Q & A, and the outside demos. I did a fly-around to capture the museum from various angles (yeah, I was nervous that close to the highway!) but was very careful, and I think the pictures speak for themselves. I wish there was a way to upload the video on this site. We'll be making it available to the museum to use as they see fit. Great event, and thanks to everyone who made it a huge success! ~Wailer

Please be considerate and safe when flying your equipment here. This is NOT a fly-in, this is an event with children being held at national museum. Consult with Timothy before you fly anything.

Just got confirmation from the event organizers that we have permission to fly and take pictures of the facilities. This should be fun and a nice community service to provide those images and videos to the museum.

Does experience level matter? I'm fairly new but would be excited to help.

Our priority is getting experienced people to come who can show off and explain their equipment, but we'd welcome less experienced folks coming as well if they are interested.

I'm in! I'll bring my Nikon for ground shots and will be ready to fly for aerial shots if allowed.

Just wondering how this got setup? Does a member work down at Quantico? Just wondering because I worked there for 4 years.
