What we’re about
The DC Area Drone User Group (DC DUG) is an organization for amateur and professional drone users that seeks to promote the responsible use of flying robots for community service, artistic, entrepreneurial, and recreational purposes. All experience levels are welcome. We get together as a community to share tips, experiences, and of course to do some flying. We work to educate ourselves about how to build and use drones in a safe and respectful manner and to educate the public about the positive role aerial robotics can play in our society. Most importantly, we think that flying robots are a lot of fun! DC DUG is a member of the Drone User Group Network, an association of community organizations that promote the use of civilian drone technology for the benefit of humanity.
Upcoming events (1)
See all- Learning series: Drone videography and FRZ approvalsNew Makerspace - (RSC), Rockville, MD
For our next monthly meeting, group member AJ will present on his experiences creating a drone video for a food pantry where he volunteers. It will include what he learned about getting approval to fly in the DC Flight-Restricted Zone (FRZ).
We'll get started shortly after 6pm so please try to arrive on time! We'll send out a Zoom link via email to those who have RSVP'ed, and also post the link in the event chat the day of the event for those who'd like to join virtually.
We plan on having some time to chat at the MakerSpace after the talk, and then a group may migrate to a nearby bar/restaurant to continue the conversation.
We're being hosted by the Rockville Science Center makerspace. If you'd like to help us continue to use the space, please become a formal member of the DC Area DUG by signing up here https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dcdrone - all contributions will go directly toward group events, such as use of the Rockville Science Center facilities. Membership is never required to attend our free events, like this one!
