Bluebells at Bull Run Regonal Park

  • The bluebells at Bull Run RegionalPark are amazing - they usually bloom in early April. Looking at when I've photographed them in previous years - they very well may be in full bloom the first full weekend in April. Plan is to meet in the parking lot near the bluebell trail at 7:30 - hike and photograph for a couple of hours - and by April I'll figure out a place to go afterwards. If it looks like the Bluebells aren't blooming that weekend - an alternate locations for photographing wildflowers could be Turkey Run - or Cherry Blossoms at the Arboretum. So this meetup is set for April 7 - most likely bluebells - but depending on what's blooming when/where - location and photo subject may change.

Out at Bull Run bells were beautiful against the green grassy meadow...

Agree. I was at Bull Run Park Friday afternoon; and I'm glad I went, the bluebells were definitely at their peak. I did, however, get some good photo shots . . .

I was at Brookside Gardens today and there was a lovely patch of bluebells off the wooden path that connects the gardens to the Nature Center. They looked to be at their peak.

I was at Bull Run Park on Thursday March 23 - bluebells were spectacular. Which means - by April 7 - they will be way past peak if there any left.

Sometime around April 2-3 - I will figure out where flowers are likely to be blooming on April 7 - and change the location for the meetup. Plan is we will be photographing flowers somewhere in the Greater DC area on April 7 - just don't know where yet.
