Alexandria (Happy) Humanist Social

Cross-post from WASH; see updates and changes there.
New Location: Caboose Cafe at Queen and Fayette NOT DEL RAY. Not that Caboose is just a couple blocks from Hard Times, so it's still accessible from King St Metro. Caboose should be quieter and with better food. They have Ethiopian, soul food, and American food, as well as beer and wine.

Note new dates: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays (technically a separate series in meetup.com)

Let's meet at Caboose Cafe near Braddock Rd Metro (B/Y) on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 6-8PM for some good humanists/skeptics/atheists in the pub. It's a great way to build community and meet others.

Caboose Cafe is just .5 mi from Braddock Rd and King St Metro stops. It's an Ethiopian-run cafe and bakery with beer, wine, Injira (spicy beans, bread, and vegetables, my favorite), but also standard American and soul food. It's just one room, so we'll be easy to find. Music is low and often classical. No TVs. So it should be quiet and good atmosphere for discussion.

Beforehand some of us will be flyering at the Braddock Rd Metro Station starting at 5:15PM (see separate meetup to RSVP). Come for both or either. Keep an eye out for last-minute weather adjustments.

The group kicked off with Rapture Party on Oct 21st, 2011 at Hard Times Cafe and spent a full year at Hard Times. Feedback was to find a place quieter and with better food. And just something different. The feedback was also that 1st-3rd Tuesdays would be better than alternating Tuesdays - easier to remember and no conflict with Cafe Inquiry on 4th Tuesdays. If you've been before, now is the time to check in again. (as of 11/13/2012)

    Hi there!

I am coming all the way from Russia, I am very excited to see what your meet ups are like, and what the American atheists are like. (The American people I know are religious).

Being religious is very facionable in Russia these days, and, as an atheist, I feel very lonely. All the people I know are religious, and some are not happy with my views.

Also, our government has forced the reduction of proper subjects at schools, and introduced a religious one in their place. Despite what our Constitution says.

Anyway, I am hoping that this meetup will be well attended, and it will be fun meeting a whole group of like-minded people. I really don't know what to expect, and it's kind of thrilling!
