From: Don W.
Sent on: Sunday, May 23, 2010 8:03 PM
The Northern Virginia Chapter of Washington Area Secular Humanists is hosting an Independence Day Extravaganza for the Washington DC Secular Community on the Potomac River in scenic Mason Neck, VA.

Date: Saturday, July 3, 2010

Time: 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The party is on the 3rd (not the 4th) so that those who are interested in seeing firework displays can do so on their own.

Dress casually and feel free to bring a football, Frisbee, your swimsuit and towel, or anything else needed for outdoor fun. Don't forget sunscreen! A pool, hot tub, and a few water toys will be available. A volleyball net will also be set up on the lawn. The home is located on the Potomac River; if walking along the shore sounds like it's for you, please remember appropriate footwear.

This is a potluck and you must bring a food or drink item to share. Not sure what to bring? Any category will do: dessert, fruit, alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages, or chips and dip. Items that need to be grilled, baked, etc. will work as well. WASH is supplying all paper products, condiments, and ice.

Light Rain or Shine... the picnic will only be rescheduled in cases of severe weather.

Members of all secular groups in the DC area have been invited to attend this WASH hosted event. Remember, If you're planning to drink, please arrange for a designated driver. Children are welcome. Please leave pets at home.

The celebration is limited to 100 attendees on a first-come, first-serve basis. Send an e-mail to [address removed] and we'll respond with a printable map and parking information. If you have any needs, such as accessible parking, please include this in your message. Questions can be sent to the e-mail address as well. If you do not have internet access, you can call[masked]-0637.
