I think your views on the tea party are uninformed and parochial.
The one time anyone polled a large convention of them they split 50/50 on issues of choice and gay rights. Kind of like Americans as a whole

Libertarian folks have sound ideas but in the end America is not the "shining city on the hill" that could make that system work. Hell, we may not be able to make any system work. Seems that culturally we would much rather polish our weaponry, thump the bible, and offer a nurturing environment for greed and corruption to flourish. I see total system failure on the horizon.
