The Bible says that Eve led to the fall of man. The Old Testament says that if a woman is not a virgin on her wedding day, then she should be executed (Deut. 22:21-22). St. Paul said that women should not be allowed to teach, but must remain silent in church (1 Timothy, 2:11-12). No wonder atheism and feminism have been so intertwined for so long. My question is why so many women believe in such a misogynistic faith. Do they ever bother to read the Bible?

Subject: Re: [atheists-27] I AM NOT A FEMINIST
I AM NOT A FEMINIST
I do not necessarily oppose feminist proposals, although I would have to check which the current ones are before signing on the dotted line.
However, as a matter of principle, I oppose all pressure groups – be they based on ethnos, gender, language, age, cult or whatever – whose credos do not include -- AS ITEM NUMBER ONE – the statement
“MY CLAIM TO BEING OPPRESSED CANNOT
EVER GIVE ME LICENSE TO OPPRESS OTHERS.”
The feminist movement has signally failed to stipulate this, and moreover has not even tacitly followed this maxim. On the contrary, feminists take pride in humiliating men, as I have observed innumerable times in the Benighted States and elsewhere.
As long as this situation remains unaltered, I consider feminists merely A BUNCH OF FASCIST CUNTS.
This discussion brings to mind some of the deeper issues about who and what we are as people. I think we need to understand how us guyz need to understand that we are profoundly better off living in a society with fully equal rights for women. I think we need to drive a stake through the heart of the demented MRA dialogue that has created the image of a war in the secular community. In the MRA community you will find men claiming that all rape prosecutions should cease immediately and no one will suggest that there is a problem with this idea. You will also find hysterical extremism where sensible equality for women and rules protecting women are seen as morally equivalent to imposition of Islamic rule by the Taliban. Is short they go way beyond a sensible redressing of the balance on who get custody of children after a divorce. The notion that women do not have the right (and moral obligation) to clearly communicate their interest is a throwback to the demented patriarchal model of the 1950s. Women at that time were not expected to take the initiative in anything. They were not expected to form businesses, run for political office, assume management roles in corporations, develop new scientific or strategic understandings or initiate a sexual relationship. The labeling of sexual initiative from a women with the terms “slut” or “whore” was part of a cultural package where initiative and power of any sort from women was discouraged. If we look at the model suggested by Woody in this discussion it is obvious that it is immensely stressful. He assumes that the man needs to be physically assertive in a “50/50” situation where the signals are not really clear. By definition the man does not know what is happening in such a situation and he is running a severe risk to his reputation and perhaps criminal prosecution if he reads it wrong. Moreover, the research on this indicates the men are likely to read things wrong at a very high rate. I think that we can all be grateful that this nonsense is now so dated that we can point to the 1950s as the appropriate era for this thinking. Obviously Woody is still suffering from the aftereffects of Polish Catholicism. Let us provide a forum where he and others who have not cleansed themselves of this religiously founded dementia can find freedom from the chains of the past.Note that it simply not true the women rule the game now. The woman rules the game if it is the man who is indicating interest. If the woman is the one indicating interest than the man is the one that rules the game. Women now have managerial roles in the workplace. On occasion they can and do use that power to sexually coerce men. We have the right to clearly fight back against that. If a man says no it means no in precisely the same way that it means no when a woman says it.The very high rates of sexual assault in the military and low rates of reporting and successful prosecution is seen as a women's issue. The fact is that about half of the assaults are against men. Few of us guys want to even entertain the ideas that men are also the victims of such an attack. The fact is that it is not only possible but it is happening at a rate that needs to end. We need to take these prosecutions out of the chain of command where too many cases are dismissed for no good reason. We are going into a future where students in college are 60% women and 40% men. This is a long term disaster for our culture and a major rebalancing of the power between the sexes. It is great that women are feeling empowered to have full access to all roles in the workplace. However, men need to radically increase the value that they place on education and they need to understand that the patriarchal society of the past is long gone. In this future with equality of power the protections of rights will be as much of value to men as women.Don
