Maybe it could be a hybrid of both. I for one would be happy to see the group get more vocally involved. Hopefully we could get the word out there that religion doesn't have the market cornered on ethics (quite the opposite) while still maintaining the social aspect. Maybe once a month or so there could be an event for the activist atheist community, with more common meetups amongst the social atheist community.
