Tula: The Revolt*

Based on the true story of the slave uprising in 18th-century Curacao, this epic drama follows the enslaved Tula, who led his colleagues in revolt. Upon hearing of the emancipation of the slaves in Haiti, Tula decides that he needs to take charge to change the situation in Curacao. While his pleas for freedom go ignored by his masters, Tula finds support among his fellow slaves, and they decide to strike. Dutch troops quickly arrive at the plantation, and though Tula dreams of a peaceful agreement, he soon finds out that he has no option but fight with the other enslaved people for freedom, equality and brotherhood.

I would give the movie 6.5-7.0. I'm not convinced that the use of some words would be appropriate for Curacao or the 18th century.
I'm glad that I saw the movie as I did learn from it but it wasn't one of the better movies.

"I'm not convinced that the use of some words would be appropriate for Curacao or the 18th century." Do you mean the profanity that was in the film?

I could be wrong but I don't know that the use of the "n" word would have been used by these Dutch men. In the 18th century, was that an internationally used word for slaves? Maybe so, just stuck out for me.

I thought the lighting could've been better in a few scenes but other than that not bad. I give it a 6.5.
