In addition to seeing the movie, DSA members and friends might want to visit the websites of Good Jobs Nation and its sponsoring union group Change to Win. They offered a free showing of the movie to celebrate the recent victory of low-wage workers in federally run facilities, including Union Station and the Ronald Reagan Building, in persuading President Obama to raise the minimum wage for contract workers at federal facilities to $10.10/ hour. As Joseph Geevarghese of Change to Win said in the panel discussion before the film showing, "The leading low-wage employer in the US today is not McDonald's or Wal-Mart; it's the federal government." Change to Win and Good Jobs Nation are committed to pressuring Obama even more to change that situation, he said. For more info, see www.goodjobsnation.org.

The movie was great, and if you RSVP'd successfully with Good Jobs Nation, the sponsor, it was free. But if you have a chance to pay for it at Regal Cinemas in Chinatown in DC -- do it! Great account of Chavez and the desperate struggle of Chicano and Filipino farmworkers against almost feudal conditions in the California fields, with a thoughtful performance by John Malkovich as the leader of the growers. Interesting insights on the crucial importance of the union enlisting a variety of outsiders for the grape boycott -- even internationally, in the end.

I already RSVPd. Do I still need to send an email to Emily?

Yes you do. If you don't get a response from Emily it might mean they don't have space anymore.

Hello Jose, I just sent Emily the email. Since there are only 3 "Yes" RSVPs at this point (including myself), I would imagine that there's still space.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
