Since the 1970s I have believed that American capitalism cannot continue on its present path without gravely damaging both humanity & nature. I look to DSA, over time, to show the way to a just democratic and sustainable future. -- andy

We had a small turnout and we didn't actually end up discussing DSA's strategy documents and how to change them. We're going to have to do this later, and the plan is for everyone who did the readings to start the discussion by writing up a summary of part of the national strategy document & submitting it to Woody for publication in the newsletter. But on the positive side, there was a really good presentation on the issues surrounding partial privatization of the DC bus service (and of the proposed streetcar line planned for the H Street corridor) by Pedro Cruz, the main organizer of a new coalition dedicated to fighting for a less privatized and also less "gentrifying" vision for DC public transit.
At last I think I have found a person who agrees with me. Why do Americans support Capitalism? Because they were told it was good? I have never been given any opportunities in this country. I can imagine, however, that if I were given any opportunities for success, I probably would be a supporter of Capitalism. I have been beaten down by this country too many times to support the system.
The disparity between rich and poor grows larger every day.

Hi Andy, thanks for the greeting and I don't really know how many will see it, but who cares, right?
Andy, Thanks for providing such a thoughtful and well-articulated description of some of the history of both Harrington and the movement. I know I could really benefit from continued exposure to sources like the ones you shared last night. I hope to see you again soon!
Hi Andy, the jobs sub-group is meeting on Tues. I checked and the Cosi is at 12th and G not 13th. I let Jose know but don't know how to get in touch with the others. Sorry about the confusion.
