Discussion: Election Confusion the Result of Capitalism?

I enjoy a good surprise ending and appreciate when dark humor comes from real life (bless you, Cohen Brothers). But this election played out in such an odd way, with what seemed like the floor being pulled out from under many GOP supporters. I started thinking about why - and maybe it's my nascent understanding of Capitalism, but I couldn't help but think...

Is the logical conclusion that those who most support Capitalism will also be the most affected by it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the perfect Capitalists would tend to be both insulated and isolated. Isn't that what happened? What else can account for the disconnected nature, the emotional fallout and the disbelief we've seen on display? Exurbs abolish community, entertainment scrubs away unsightliness and food causes lethargic bodies and minds. Don't all these things work together to create... well, the perfect Capitalist?

I appreciate any thoughts you all may have. I assume this is an open space in which to discuss such things, but if it's not, please let me know and I'll refrain in future.

Brandon, it is an open space but you might want to check out our facebook page. We have most of our discussions there. Here's a link:

Hope to see you there or at a meeting.
