Hi DC Droids,
DC ACM (Washington DC Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery) will be offering a paid 1 day course on Android mobile application development.? The AM session will focus on beginners and the PM session will focus on intermediate level Android developers.? We are looking to fill a limited number of volunteer spots to help us run the event.? Volunteers get to sit in on a portion of the class for free during down time.? If we have a volunteer from DC Droids, they are welcome to promote the users group before or after each session.? Additional DC Droids involvement ideas are welcome and encouraged.
The instructor is Donald Charity, whom currently works for a Sprint contractor in the San Fransisco Bay area.? He previously worked for Blackboard Mobile, and has a Masters in Computer Science from Howard University.? Sprint currently carries the HTC Hero and the HTC Evo 4G Android phones.
The beginner course will focus on the developer environment: Eclipse IDE, Android SDK, emulator, and on device development. 2-3 basic Java / XML applications will be written by the end of the class.
The intermediate course will focus on full cycle development: On device development, XML UI programming, properties and manifest permissions, event handling, resource handling, testing, production and releasing apps to Android Market.
