It's time for the Post Hunt, the annual scavenger hunt held by the Washington Post! If you've never participated in the Hunt, you're missing out on great fun. We've had a group of GenXers in the Hunt each year since it started in DC; last year, one of our teams placed third!
Here's a blurb from the Post website:
"People come from across the country — in teams or individually, in costume or not — to compete for glory, fame and $2,000. Mostly the glory. The game, sponsored by WP Magazine, work likes this: In a day of hilarity and head-scratching, you solve a series of amazing puzzles that will either drive you insane or drive you to a Mensa meeting. The Post Hunt must be on your bucket list."
There's a practice puzzle on the same page:
Meet starting at 11 a.m. at Corner Bakery National Press, 529 14th St. NW. Bring a copy of the most current Washington Post Sunday magazine; it will contain key parts of the clues to the puzzles. We'll have a table for the group, usually in the rear by the rest rooms. This is a good time to meet your fellow GenXers and get with a team if you so desire.
Once the Hunt is over and the winner(s) have been announced, we'll go to dinner at a nearby restaurant. Last year, we went to Ping Pong Dim Sum and had a terrific time. If you've got suggestions for dinner, though, let me know.
See you at the Hunt!
