Basics/Best practices of creating a jQuery plugin

  • Needs a location

  • Anyone build/support a plugin and want to talk about the experience and what they've learned for those considering it but not yet attempted it?

I've created 2: First was a custom selector ":attrNameBegins(prefix)", useful to find HTML5 data-* attributes. Second was plug-in .defineDatasets() to define this.dataset based on data-* attributes. Together they allow syntax compatibly coding to HTML5 data-* in advance of browser support. jQuery 1.4.4 supersedes .defineDatasets(), but not syntax compatibly with HTML5. (You access data-* attributes via .data(), not this.dataset.) I can speak on these (or how), if anyone's interested.

I vote for this one! I swear there was *someone* at the last meeting who said they could do this... wish I could remember his name.

I could not present on this as I have never actually put one together, Im in the latter half of the equation. Do we have anyone who would be willing to present on this? Even if it's just a run down of something you've built in the past and then some QnA from the group would be FAB!

Love this idea - any chance of getting it in at the January 6th meetup?
