The Movie: The Two Faces of War (As Duas Faces da Guerra) (2007, 105 min), by Diana Andringa and Flora Gomes – Shot in Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde and Portugal, "The Two Faces of War" examines the wars of independence in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde through the recollections of veterans and leaders on both sides of the conflict.

Join us as we learn about the beginnings of the PAIGC, the visionary leadership of Amilcar Cabral and examine a war which leads to both independence in Guinea-Bissau and the overthrow of the dictatorship in Portugal. (Portuguese with English subtitles).

Our film will be followed by audience discussion with Iane Campos-Siddique; a university lecturer in Portuguese.
