HOW TO JOIN this meetup group

Launching with a minimum viable product, iterating based on validated learning, and pivoting are ideas core to any lean startup. They are based on assumptions of an open world, where consumers happily use "beta" products.

But one of the hottest places for software development -- Apple's App Store -- defies gravity. Anyone paying any sort of attention has heard the horror stories of getting through Apple's rigorous approval process. While that process is improving, both it and other factors still make it a very different place to try to be a lean startup.

This meetup will be a panel discussion focused around uncovering how, if at all, lean startup principles apply in iPhone development. Details about the panel are below. For the continued use of our great venue and refreshments, $10 will be charged at the door.

Panelist - Rob Rhyne
Rob Rhyne builds stuff. He's a designer, a developer and cooks a mean baked ziti. Tragically, he believes that software should be beautiful to the user and the developer. Rob, along with Dave Mark and Jeff LaMarche are MartianCraft: a Cocoa and mobile development studio. He developed Briefs (http://giveabrief.com..., a framework for building rapid prototypes for the iPhone & iPod Touch, so he could explain to his Mom what he does for a living. He has been a Cocoa developer (both Mac & iPhone) for 7 years, but has been building things since he was six.

Panelist - David Smith
David Smith is the founder of Cross Forward Consulting, a small mobile applications company in Herndon, VA. He has been developing iPhone apps since August 2008. His most successful applications are in the audiobooks area, with over 1 million combined downloads across these apps.

Panelist - Barg Upender
Barg Upender is the Founder & CEO of Mobomo, an innovative mobile development company focused on building “Smart Apps for Smart Devices” in the consumer and enterprise markets. Barg is a serial entrepreneur and technologist with 20 years of experience in commercial software product development. Barg was selected as Top 100 Tech Titans in the DC-metro area by the Washingtonian magazine in 2009. Barg is an alumnus of the prestigious MindShare CEO Network, the leading entrepreneur network in the DC-metro area. Barg graduated from Cornell University with a Masters in Electrical Engineering.
