MD New Media Tech- Web 2.0 - Social Web - Cloud Computing April Meetup

  • Apr 30, 2009 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is no longer available

For the first meeting, a few individuals have committed to present case studies of the projects they are leading and I hope they will be of interest to the larger community:

  • The development of a MySpace for Scientists at US Geological Survey - John Larson
  • The use of Virtual World training for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness at the National Institutes of Health - Shawn Moozoun
  • Looking for other suggestions I would like this first meeting to be more collaborative in nature. We will use part of this initial meeting to define future topics of interest to the group and to identify potential speakers. Aquilent has generously offered up the use of their conference center. There will be some light refreshments provided.

It was not quite the attendance I expected, but not surprising for a first meetup. The people that attended were from all types of backgrounds - government contractors, software developers local government, professional organizations, human resources etc. There was some good content, and some good general conversation about the use of web 2.0. My goal out of this first meeting was to really just get a feel for how this works and what interests the group. Going forward I would like to tighten up the overall vision and objectives of this group and identify some speakers that will draw in more people.
