I used up to meetup and I visited the various meetup groups in the DC Metro area.
I recently signed up with DC Freelancers.
My goal is to meet people from various professions, and learn new knowledges and skills especially in the area of health. I believe that networking is very powerful in advancing my career.
I'm Sonia B., on a career transition, and I want to network with various groups to learn new stuff, particularly, making the social media more beneficial to my career goal. I'm excited to be in this group. Thank you!
The group isn't welcoming at all. People from the same offices/agencies congregate together and socialized among themselves. They didn't bother to meet the new people. My brother and I came in early enough. An exchange of greeting at the sign up desk happened. Other than that I didn't experience any welcoming gesture from the organizers and other people. I approached the African American lady at the left side of the room, who was by herself and chatted with her. She, like myself, was a newcomer, and left alone with nobody bothered to welcome her. My impression was people of that Meetup group socialize among themselves only. A newcomer is not very welcome. The Health Meetup Group is not the best group to be.
