Call for Speakers for Health Informatics Pulse (HIP) Event

We are looking to identify speakers for Health Informatics Pulse (HIP)! HIP is a venue for Health Informatics practitioners in the greater DC Metro area to meet, share with and learn from colleagues dealing with similar challenges and issues. Our mission is to make it easier for healthcare organizations to use Health IT in a manner that improves patient and constituent outcomes and overall efficiencies by sharing success stories and ideas for innovations.

Our first event will be held on June 24th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at The Barking Dog in Bethesda, MD. This location has plenty of parking nearby and is Metro accessible.

Like our Health 2.0 STAT events, HIP will feature a rapid-fire series of five minute presentations, but HIP will focus on a deeper dive into innovation and technology. Speakers will be highlighting their experiences and lessons learned from using innovative technology around health and bioinformatics. The presentations will be followed by a panel style Q&A session.

How can I become a speaker for Health Informatics Pulse (HIP)? If you are interested in speaking at HIP, please submit a brief description (250 words or less) of your topic and a brief speaker BIO (1 paragraph) to [address removed] by Thursday, June 10th. Additional presentation materials will be accepted, but are not necessary.

What is HIP? Health Informatics Pulse includes a rapid fire presentation format with 6-8 speakers, followed by a panel style Q&A session. This event will emphasize the presentation of case studies and real world examples that highlight innovative use and results associated with health and bioinformatics. Each presenter is given no more than 5 minutes to present a case study/presentation highlighting the innovative use of health informatics within their health-related organization.

What can I expect at this event? This is the first HIP event scheduled, but to get an idea of how our meetups are organized, visit our Health 2.0 STAT meetup site.

Am I eligible to speak at this event? Any person can speak at this event! We want to encourage a broad range of health informatics topics with speakers from varying backgrounds (Medical Professionals, Federal Government, Non-Profits, etc) that support local, national and/or international initiatives. The only prerequisite is that your presentation be about the use of health informatics and approaches within the Health domain and that you keep your presentation to no more than 5 minutes.

How will potential speakers be selected? Speakers will be primarily selected based on whether the topic is interesting, creative, and points will be given for real world case studies and applicability with proven results. We will also make an attempt to select a wide range of topics so that there isn?t too much overlap in terms of content. Feel free to submit multiple proposals but keep in mind that we reserve the right to select the one you will present. We will let you know by Friday, June 11th, whether or not your presentation has been selected.

Please note that this event is not about self-promotion. We are interested in talks that are driven by passion, not by sales.
