Where would you like your next mountaineering adventure to be? Is it a daydream, or a firming-up plan?

Probably initially someplace on the East Coast since I am a beginner. Later, perhaps out west, the Alps, or the Andes. No firm plans at the moment though.

Have you done any skiing in the backcountry -- if so, where?

No, other than during Marine Corps cold weather training in Bridgeport, CA back in the '70s. That was on primitive cross country skis wearing Mickey Mouse insulated boots.

Have you done any rock/ice climbing? (Not a pre-requisite, but helpful -- and you have to be willing to learn.)

No. Definitely willing to learn though.

What is your most memorable summit? (Yes, they are all memorable... But we are interested in your mountaineering/technical experience, so let us know about that hard one!)

I am a relative beginner so I can only list Old Rag. I found it to be quite simple though taking considerably less time to complete the loop than what was estimated on the Hiking Upward site.

Introduction

I read the group description and find the thought of ski touring from Chamonix to Zermatt very appealing. This group will provide me with the incentive and encouragement to rise to challenges such as this and perhaps even greater.
