Burke Lake Park (by Golf Course)
Saturday 6/28 2:00 PM – Sunday 6/29 2:00 PM – 24 hrs
The Vienna Wireless (Amateur Radio) Society will participate in the annual Field Day, where amateur radio operators, or “hams”, across the U.S. attempt to contact as many stations as possible within 24 hours while using emergency power. The event is designed to show that hams can establish reliable communication all over the world without the need for any public services.
Field Day and the Get-On-The-Air program offers a great opportunity for the public to learn about the many facets of amateur radio. They’ll discover that it reinforces amateur radio’s critical role in providing communications during emergencies, particularly in situations where conventional power sources may be limited or absent altogether.
When you get there, ask for the coordinator (Regis Gottus). He will be there all 24 hours. He will show you guys all the new tech that have come to a very old science.
I will be there, but considering this is a 24 hour event. I do not know what time I will be there. Just ask for Regis, he is a good friend of mine.
