Main Meeting: PHP Bootcamp--Learn PHP!

  • Oct 9, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Fathom Creative

If you've been looking to get into PHP, tonight we're going to do something special to get you started. Oscar Merida and Sandy Smith will be giving a tutorial on the basics of PHP to get you up to speed enough to be able to jump start learning on your own.

We'll cover variables, operators, control structures, basic loops, and functions, and a smidgen of objects.

If we have time, we'll try an exercise, so bring your laptops!

Is there going to be a course offering (the online course didn't look like it had any offerings anytime soon) or a similar beginner meetup?

What were some of the sites you mentioned for volunteer php work?

Sandy and Oscar cut to the chase on this bootcamp. Highly recommend attending training with this team.

Even though I couldn't come, I'm glad to see the bootcamp was well attended, and I'll echo what Jerry said: These guys know PHP as well as anyone in the city, and maybe in the country. If you have a chance to learn from them, don't miss it!

Is there something you would recommend having pre-installed on our laptops to prep for any possible exercise presented in class?

So, we say LAMP, WIMP, WAMP as words...How would we pronounce WNMP and LNMP? (Win/Linux, Nginx, MySQL, PHP) ((Sorry to derail the convo, but I got curious.))

      October 9, 2013

    • Samantha Q.

WEMP? LEMP? It is pronounced "engine x" after all ;)

I am learning PHP, but sadly I cannot attend this. Will there be things like this in the future :)?

I wish I could join you all. PHP is something I have wanted to learn for quit some time now. However, I have already paid for a crossfit class... Please let me know should you all do something like this again on the weekend.
