A Poetry Program to Celebrate National Senior Citizens Day!

This observance was established (1988) in honor of senior citizens in the US who made positive contributions in their communities. The day was also created to bring awareness of social, health, and economic issues that affect senior citizens. 

To celebrate this special day The Sanctuary Theatre and The Performing Knowledge Project in association with The DC Poetry Project present

                                 A Celebration of Poetry

The Senior Poets of Arthur Capper will share their poems, as well as works written by well known poets. The program will also include a special tribute to the legacy of Maya Angelou and her poetic inspirations; plus, an Open Mic for short presentations by audience members. Please join us! 

Poets include Ms. Betty Graham-House, Mr. James Bennett, Ms. Armanda Taylor, Ms. deLores McMillian, and the Honorable Ms. Lois Tibbs.

                            Light appetizers will be served

    I was so blessed by attending this event this evening! Kudos to Michael and Michael for spreading the love of poetry through the halls of the Arthur Capper Senior Home. I'm still smiling and inspired!
