1st DC Poetry Workshop

Please bring several printed copies of your poem to hand out during the workshop—be prepared to share, and to discuss others' work! And to have fun and meet other poets, of course.

We'll be meeting at the MLK Library (901 G St. NW, in Chinatown), room A-9. I have the room reserved from 6:30pm onwards—I know many of you will be coming straight from work, so don't worry if you're a few min. late. Call my cell (203)[masked] if you need help finding us.

Can't wait to meet all of you!

Hello! Thanks for your hard work, Amanda. You are a force of nature. I'd like to come to the next one but need to do some childcare fanagling before I commit... in the meantime, do we have the email list together yet?

Many, many thanks to all who came out for the workshop last night. It was great to meet you all, and to hear your poetry. Apologies for the late start, and thanks for your patience. I'll be sending around an email today so we can all stay connected.

I hope see you again next week!

Tokie—it's an open group, so feel free to bring whoever you like. We'll figure out the best way to run the workshop when we get together tomorrow.

Hey poets! Awesome poet/writer Nick Flynn is reading at the Hill Center (by Eastern Market) at 7pm next Tues., Oct 1. I'm going and I love his poetry, so just wanted to spread the word in case anyone else is interested! (check it out: <http://hillcenterdc.org/home/programs/1262>;) It's free you just have to register in advance.

I may not be able to make it that frequently, but I am definitely interested. Also willing to provide poetry reads and feedback to people by email/etc. (yes, willing to critique, no strings attached).

Hello... still haven't given birth yet, so no telling if I'll be able to make it. I'd love to get on the email list, even if I can't make the first meeting. What do you say? Thanks, Amanda, for being so active in this!

As far as academia, I am rather lacking, however I love to write and would like to attend. Is this okay?

Of course! This is an open group for anyone who wants to write/read poetry—no prior experience/academic background necessary!

For people who can make it to the workshop on the 3rd: looks like there's going to be about 10 or so people (so far). I'm thinking of reserving a room at the MLK library in Chinatown area so we have our own private space to work in—any objections? It's a pretty central spot.

I won't be able to make it on the 3rd (I'm running an ultra the next day) but I'll definitely try to make the next gathering!

May just have had a baby by then, but dad may be able to put the toddler to bed and I come with the Small One in a wrap. Depending on where it is. I favor NOVA, of course, as West as possible, but that's just me. I'm in Fairfax City.

Thursdays (or weekends) would work best for me as well, though I doubt I could attend every week.

Hi everyone! I'm really excited that this group already has some interest—can't wait to meet you all. Does Thursday work better for everyone (that would be Oct. 3)? I'm flexible on the date, so whatever works best for the majority is fine with me. I'm hoping we can meet weekly or bi-weekly, so we can always switch up the days as we go along.
