Quantified Children

I'm having my first kid and thinking about ways to measure his life from day 1. There are typical biological activities that are easily tracked, but I'm more interested in automatic tracking as well as understanding his growth, cognitive development, and general behaviors.

Perhaps we can meet and discuss projects, ideas, and experiences in quantifying children, newborns, toddlers, and up.

I've never been to a Quantified Self but would like to become more involved and using this as a project to help lead.

Casual dinner/drinks: good discussion, incl bodyscanners (william), prenatal/genetic/predictive diagnoses (all), critical periods/developmental biology ala "wonder weeks" (andrew), etc, etc.

Dmitry - I think so http://washington.org/planning/members/membership/member-directory?client=60386 - maybe want to call to verify that they'll let in an underage person? Considering how much they pride themselves on being a community place I hope so.

    Looking forward to Quantified Geeking!

Thanks Alex - not major but definitely interesting discussion for this meetup on when is too much data bad :)

Let's plan on next Wednesday at Meridian Pint since people local to HacDC know the area and this one is a small group. Then I'm up for trying Scion Restaurant. How many people can fit there?

It's all good. It sounds like it may be best to reschedule then. I hope it's nothing major. - - - - - - - - Meridian Pint is a good alternative. If DC is the prime local, I can reserve us some private space at Scion Restaurant in Dupont Circle for the next one. Let me know.

  • Alex G removed the location. It was Phase2 Technology

Thanks for the space Alex, that's awesome. However I've had something (actually baby) come up tonight and can't make it! That stinks.

I suggest we reschedule for next week at Meridian Pint - since that's near HacDC for people that live there. Is that ok? If you still want to meetup tonight I'd obviously love to know what you discussed and still meetup with you later. Sorry for the changed schedules (though something I'll likely have to get good at)

Hrm, this is a bit far for me especially in comparison to the initially proposed location. I live right next to the HacDC space but work in College Park, which makes VA a bit out of the way. Can others make it?

Phase2 Technology has kindly offered to provide conference room space for tonight's meetup.
If you're traveling by metro, it's less than a 4 min walk away from the Braddock Rd metro station (yellow/blue line).
    The building is locked after 5pm, I can let you in. Please call (7 - 0-3) 5 - 4 - 8 - 6 -0 -5 -0 x119 or email me if you running late past 7:15pm
    Does this work for everyone?

Have we figured out a place yet? If not, are we rescheduling?

I hadn't realized that 7 other people had signed up - awesome. Any recommendations for a Venue that we could hang out at?

Any chance this could be moved to the following week? I would love to attend but will be out of town the week this is scheduled.
