Robots vs. DC United

For one game only, robots will take over DC United's famous Lot 8 tailgate area for an epic tournament of mechanical soccerball kicking. Several local FIRST Robotics high school teams will be participating, and this is an open call to DC Robotics Group members and local hobbyists to enter their own robots. Individuals and teams welcome!

General rules for entry:

Robots will be expected to kick size 5 soccer balls into a Lacrosse goal or small childrens soccer goal via teleoperation at varying distances up to 20'. Points will be based on goals, distance, and time (if necessary). More advanced autonomy is certainly welcome but not required. If enough teams enter the tournament, DC United prizes will be awarded.

Not interested in competing? FIRST Robotics representatives will be on hand to discuss FIRST programs for students. We'll also have a special "driver's license" course where kids can remote control robots!

is there parking available or do we take the metro

Parking is available through regular game parking, so it'll be the event parking price (I think around $15 or so). Personally, I'd recommend taking metro to Stadium-Armory and walking toward the right of the stadium until you reach Lot 8. All the tailgate activities occur here and we will be stationed close to the stadium where the food trucks are located.

I will be leading the FIRST Robotics team from KIPP DC, the "Robopanthers". We look forward to meeting fellow enthusiast at the stadium!
