Missed last year's Arduino workshops? Kick off 2014 with a series of introductory and advanced Arduino workshops led by DC Robotics Group Education Director Glenn Mossy. In this introductory session (identical to the Jan/28th and Jan/30 session), Glenn will provide an informative lesson Introduction to Arduino in an interactive format for you to gain an understanding of the components, inputs, outputs, programming the Arduino beginning with up projects in the recommended starter kit.  Glenn will help get up and running with the software and then get right into putting components on your breadboard and walk everyone through building the RGB Led, Potentiometer, Servo projects.  Bring your laptop to get started with your Arduino Starter kit.

Details and kit ordering instructions to follow. Space is limited so please keep your RSVP status up-to-date. The 2/25 and 2/27 sessions are identical so please RSVP for one only.

This meetup will center around a build session with a recommended starter kit.  If you need a kit you can click on the link in red and order one below. Please place your order for the kit by Feburary 17th and I will be able to bring a kit to the meetup for  you.  We are adding value to the kit by providing you with a detailed manual on all the projects, and you can get all the help you need.   If you have an arduino already, contact us about the add-on kit to get all of the parts for the projects that we will work on.  The basic experiments in the kit include and introduction to LED, RGB Led for a spectrum of color control, Pushbuttons, Potentiometer, Temperature Sensing, Servo Control,  Motor control.  You will learn how these can be combined and added onto for more experimentation.

Looking for an advanced workshop? We are in the early stages of planning one for April so stay tuned.  The advanced workshop will center around projects in the recommend starter kit.

A little info about your excellent instructor: Glenn Mossy has forty years of taking things apart and building new things, with a special interest in all things robotics.  In his home hackerspace, Glenn currently is building a number of arduino based shields for robotics and enjoys introducing others to the fun of electronics.  Thirty years ago he gave his first presentation on motor-control for robotics at a conference with the International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED). Glenn holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University(1986).

I"m so happy to get so many great comments about the Introduction meetup, the benefit you get is worth my time preparing the lessons. Send me emails telling me about your progress on the projects, I want to hear your success, and trials too, I can help, you are not on your own. Look for the follow intermediate meetups with will be having starting in april/may. Take a look at Roxie's website about punchrockdc http://www.punchrockdc.com

Reminder: Bring you laptop, and preinstall the Arduino software before the meetup as best you can. I have starter kits for everyone who ordered one, and a couple of you I understand are bringing your own Arduino/cable, and if you have your own kit bring it.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
