I'm a big fan of Make magazine & Instructables.com both big advocates of Steam Punk. Also I have mechanical skills & tools while not having crafted any projects yet. I enjoy making a wide range of jewelry from casting silver to chainmaille.
Mostly, from seeing projects posted on Instructables.com, but also a former ASE Automotive Technician, but after an auto accident my doctors suggested I take up a career w/ less standing. I love bygone technology & steam punk variants! I enjoy developing new mechanical skills/arts & creating new projects. I'm a big fan of upcycling/recycling creatively. A different spin on "Waste not, what not!" Often I ask folks, "Tell me what you discard? I'll tell you what I can make from it!"
I liked the group! Everybody was friendly & talkative eager to share about their hobby & passion of Steampunk! Ken was very democratic trying to get everybody to share how they became interested & where they'd like to see the group go. Also, what kind of events would they like in the future & where to meet next. They were interested in bring diversity to the group & find ways to get more folks involved, but for now concentrate on establishing a solid core group to get off to a good start. Some folks w/ gaming experience along the lines of AD&D to spin off an alternative Victorian wide ranging dystopian adventure Vs a SCAdian exact time & boundaries of correctness so as not to be farby! Very ambitious, but has promise of hours of fun. I enjoy Ben & his wife sharing how he fabricated his brass goggles w/ a red & blue lens from a book they'd bought off of Amazon.com. I had a fun time, but left around 7:30 PM to have scenic drive home in the dying sunlight.
