For those who stayed to the bitter end, there was a list for front-of-line passes to tonight's screening of JOBS, at Mazza Galleria. I downloaded two passes, but the person with whom I was going to attend may not be able to join me. If you still want to go and can get to Mazza Galleria (Friendship Heights/red line metro) TONIGHT (8/13) by about 5:30 pm, text/call me at[masked] (no voicemail), let me know who you are (I probably won't have web access).

Thanks, Arsalan, I was motivated in part by your tale of woe. Somehow collective retribution, as in the "inmates are in charge" kind of way,is more fulfilling than just hanging our there by yourself. Thanks for sharing!

No problem. :) Hopefully (potential) entrepreneurs and others can learn how not to treat customers...paying or not...you never know who you might upset with these shenanigans...

I, too, was one of the unfortunates who stood in line for over 40 minutes only to be turned away, rather officiously, at the end. Ironic that all of this happened over a movie about Steve Jobs. Can't help wondering what the design genious would have thought. One thing's for sure; when Jobs paid tribute to "the crazy ones..." this was not what he had in mind. Five stars for the opportunity; zero stars for design and execution. Can only hope that the movie was gloriously awesome for those fortunate enough to have seen it!

3 lessons from this screening: Disorganized, rude, lack of customer service. Arrived 1:30 early & reserved a seat for my wife. My wife came 15 min before the movie but they wouldn’t let her in. My wife said to let her in & see if I arrived or not & if I have the seat. She leaves her bag with them. She came in & I told her to come sit down. I go to get her bag. One of the ladies working at the entrance said, "You cannot do that! I am calling security!" Meanwhile, I talked to the other lady & she says, "Just because someone is doing something wrong (reserving a seat!) doesn’t mean that you should too. Instead of engaging with this rudeness, I just went back to my seat & thought to get the bag after. You would think it would end here but no. Movie starts, security comes & asks my wife to leave. Wow! After viewing this extreme lack of customer service, I got up & left too. Alas! I did not get to see the movie but this story shows the company’s customer service inexperience.

I agree, but there is only so much room for fine print. At some point it will just become unreadable (it pretty much already is) if they try to plan for different contingencies.

      August 2, 2013

    • Arsalan K.

I know what you mean but looking at the ticket as it currently stands there is room to say "Please do not reserve seats."

Hi Folks-I enjoy this meetup but am obliged to add to the chorus for the many of us that had terrible experiences with this event. After the drama of trying to secure a printed pass online even while it sold out before I received the invite, I got a pass and traveled an hour and half thru rush hour only to be turned away in the rudest manner by a woman claiming to be the manager of this fiasco named Meg Cooney. I plead to ask if she could simply check to see if there may be an empty seat and she arrogantly refused saying the event was deliberately overbooked (I was so appauled I wrote her name as well as her boss at Allied THA named Gloria Jones with email address of [masked]). It's one thing to overbook by a small margin but it was obvious from the numbers turned away that this marketing firm overbooked by a ridiculously wide margin and along with terrible PR grossly mismanaged this event! I encourage others similarly aggrieved to email this manager's boss as well!

That is good idea Howard. Additionally, to avoid this issue getting buried into the corporate "suggestion/compliant box", use social media as well. Twitter (@alliedim), Facebook (https://www.facebook.c...).

    2. Use the code = 9QUB16

  • Matt

Where is the link to print out the ticket, is a printed ticket needed if you already rsvp'd?

    August 1, 2013

    • Peter C.

Yes you need your printed ticket. You would have gotten it as a PDF when you registered on the Gofobo.com/rsvp site. If you didn't do that then you don't have a ticket.
