Hello DC area software developers and technology enthusiasts ,
am a recent college graduate that is looking to move to the DC area and
get a full time job in software/web development. I graduated with my
degree in Statistics from the University of South Florida
I have also had a few internships and jobs as a programmer beginning
the summer before I started college. I've been an intern at Rosetta Inpharmatics
which is a biosoftware company that was acquired by Microsoft; at the
time I was interning on the biology side not software though.
I had another internship as a programmer at Raymond James Financial.
Raymond James is an international financial services company that is
headquartered in Tampa Bay. After that, I started a programming/web design club
at my school. I wanted to learn a bit (no pun intended) about some of
the front end techniques that I had been reading about. I thought it
would be more enjoyable to do this with other students at my school, so I
reached out to the listserv of a different computer group
that I was a part of and found a co-founder. You can also read more about my club here
. I have also had a part-time job as a php/web developer at the CPI Group
and worked in the QA department of Clickbooth.com
The CPI Group operates a pair of e-commerce sites that specializes in
cooking utensils and cigar extras. You can read more about them by
visiting their site. Clickbooth.com is an internet start up that has
been rated as the number one affiliate network by Website magazine.
If you are interested in looking at code samples, here
is a link to my GitHub account. Most of the code on there is written in
C/C++, C# and R. I am also currently making my way through the book Agile Web Development with Rails
and I am keeping track of that code on my GitHub account as well. I am far from the Rockstar
with 10 years of experience that some of you have probably tried to find on Stakoverflow
However, if anybody knows of a place where a recently graduate and fast
learner with a little experience can fit in, I would love to talk to
you. I can provide letters of recommendation, I have references and of
course I have my GitHub account. I hope you all have a nice weekend.
