I love nothing more than hiking, and within that passion, I love nothing more than hiking as far and high as possible. I strive to reach the coolest places with the best views. Only then do I let myself rest and soak in the world's best views!
I must admit that most of my hiking experience involves day hikes rather than backpacking. However, I have hiked with what I consider adequate equipment for an overnight hike on many of my day hikes. And my hikes have included traveling up to 31 miles in New Hampshire's White Mountains, including traverses that included 10 4,000-plus summits in a day. Each summer, I do a three-day, two-night hike using the huts in New Hampshire and routinely cover more than 10 miles a day. I also did a three-day, two-night hike in North Carolina's Blue Ridge mountains covering 25 miles with full camping gear.

I have a 20-degree sleeping bag that I've used to sleep in during all seasons (I bought it for a bike trip I took down the West Coast in the spring of 2009); I have a one-person tent that I also use to go with a sleeping pad.
More than anything, I want to meet up with like-minded people who enjoy not only hiking, but hiking long distances to reach the coolest spots nature has to offer. I also would love to learn from other hikers about the best methods for traveling lightly and becoming an even more efficient hiker. I think I could learn a lot about camping from other hikers, especially, as I have always been more of an ambitious day hiker than a backpacker.

Great group! This was my first trip with them and I didn't know what to expect. The hike was extremely difficult, but all the members remained very upbeat and were also very helpful in assisting me, the lesser experienced backpacker, overcome my first-time mistakes (such as bringing a crappy sleeping pad!)

Hi Jake, thanks for signing up for our little group. Welcome. Feel free to post as a suggestion any hike you have planned coming up. Since our hiking groups are small, we need people to post what hikes they personally are doing so that there's lots of small outings going on. I'll move it to the calendar with a max 5 attendees. If you haven't seen our About page yet, it explains it all - we're a little different than other groups. On the navigation menu above, click Pages. And again, thanks :)
