Introduction

Hi! I love backpacking around and exploring new areas and I am looking to meet others who like to go on long and strenuous hikes.

Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

I have been backpacking for most of my life and just recently started getting into UL backpacking. I have done a lot of backpacking in the Northeast (mainly NY & NH) and recently have been exploring the Massanuttens and GWNF. The longest day hike that I've done with an overnight pack is around 20-22 miles doing the presidential traverse in NH. I don't know what the exact temperature was that I've been out in, but it was last February in Dolly Sods so my best guess would be around 15-20.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

My most recent hike was this past weekend in Dolly Sods. I mainly just want to find some good snow to take my dog hiking in so I don't know how far we hiked, but we were out there for about 5 hours. My most recent backpacking trip was back in October in the Massanuttens. I went with my dog and we hiked about 15-18 miles the first day, camped about 3 miles from the car, and then just hiked out the second day. It rained part of the night and on the second day, but other than that the weather was fine.

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

Backpack - Six Moon Designs Swift Pack (UL) or Lowe Alpine AirZone Centro (non-UL) Sleep System - Vango Ultralite 300 Shelter - Katabatic Gear Bristlecone Bivy (UL) or REI Passage 2 (non-UL)

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

I just started getting into UL backpacking so I'm looking to learn more and lighten my load more.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)
