Introduction

I have been hiking in Texas and MO and am moving to baltimore early June. latest hiking/camping trip was a 4 day trip to the smoky mountains. to do list : rockies , machu pichu , glacier park , yellowstone.

Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

Longest mileage was a 15 mile hike to a waterfall in the smoky mountains. It took our group of 4 friends about 6 hours with a small break . coldest night out was 28 F in the smoky mountain however a well positioned fire goes a long way

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

shelter system :coleman hooligan 2 tent sleep system:Wenzel Tundra Minus 10 back pack : TETON Sports Scout 3400 Internal Frame Backpack 4.5 pounds shelter sytem additionals that I carry : Cold system kukri and duct tape (cant go on long trips without these two )

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

I want to be able to explore and hike in small groups. I don't like groups of more than 5-6 because the whole point of hiking in my opinion is to escape from the endless banter (esp groups that hike with 15-20 people) . UL hiking curtails the amount of participants because of the physical and in a small part psychological demands (if you don't really like/love / hiking you wouldn't put your feet through 15-20 mile worth of rocks and moss in a days work).

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)
