Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

Been hiking for 10+ years along the Western seaboard and mountain ranges, Andes, and Himalayas. Typically use a mix of brand and homemade ultralight systems. Depending on terrain and load, typically hike between 8-20 miles in a day. Comfortable with more if needed. Have snow-camped numerous times at high elevations.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

Favorite ultralight system is the ENO hammock with rain-gaurd and bug net, accompanied by a cocoon sack (<2lbs.) For colder nights, I carry a half-dome tent with a down-bag (6-7 lbs.). For 2+ day hikes its the atoms 65 Osprey backpack.

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

Getting outside and exploring new areas in the Mid-Atlantic.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

I am an avid backpacker from the Western Cascades and have grown increasingly restless with the lack of nature in my DC dwelling. I work in environmental consulting and like to think getting outside is more than just a hobby.
