Social Media for Writers: Making Web 2.0 Your Marketing Machine

For February I'm pleased to announce a guest presenter: Tee Morris. Tee has become an expert at using new technologies to promote his own novels and is a contributing author of two "how to" books on podcasting:

• Podcasting for Dummies
• Expert Podcasting Practices for Dummies

We are very fortunate to have Tee take time out of his busy schedule to share his wealth of knowledge with us. Be sure to come prepared with questions and to take many notes as this will be a NOT TO BE MISSED SESSION.

Seminar Description
Writers know the Internet, but not all writers quite take advantage of its full potential. With the evolution of the Web 2.0, potential readers are only a click away. But what exactly is this thing called Social Media? What’s the difference between an email newsletter and a blog? lack vocabulary and understanding of exactly what it is, what it can do, and what it cannot do. How is a podcast different from streaming media? And what exactly IS Twitter? With author and Social Media Authority, Tee Morris, you will pick up the vocabulary and background of exactly what Social Media is, what it can do, and what it cannot do. Tee will also give critical views at these new online initiatives and explains why some Social Media solutions may not be the solution for you.•

Topics covered will include:
• Blogs
• Social Networks
• Podcasting
• Do's and Don't's
• Questions & Answers

  • Eric Hankins

I seem to recall the first notice about this meetup mentioned a Silver Spring location - has that changed? Thanks.

It was very good, interesting and helpful. My only wish is that it could have been longer, and there could have been not only a question and answer session, but also a Q&A and discussion of the topics - since Tee Morris hit on some fascinating topics we really did not have time to discuss. But given that it was free, I'm sure we couldn't take up more of his time.

I thought it was engaging and informative. For a 101 on Web 2.0, it was exactly what I was expecting. This was my first meeting, and I am definitely looking forward to more.
