This is a group devoted to discussing public policy in democratic, deliberative forums that emphasize contrasting possibilities instead of prioritizing consensus. This Meetup has been created and is maintained by Fellows with a private foundation (Interactivity Foundation) that devotes itself to facilitating citizen discussions. The foundation provides a report and springs for a few nice dinners over which people can discuss the report in a fun and relaxed way. The report is itself generated by citizens meeting to discuss a topic over 12-18 months.
Interactivity Foundation (http://www.interactivityfoundation.org) aspires to create forums in which citizens can discuss topics that are likely to impact public policy (for instance: genetic technology). The ideas is this: if we provide a space for citizens to talk with one another about important issues, citizens will walk away more informed and engaged. IF believes that informed and engaged citizens are the basis for a strong democracy. IF is expressly non-partisan and is not an advocacy organization. We just want to get folks talking.
If you like to think openly, meet and talk with new people in DC, Maryland, and NoVA-- all over a nice dinner, please join us!
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
