Talk Description:

In this talk, Mike McGarr will provide an overview of the DevOps practice known as Infrastructure as Code.  This talk will be an introduction to Infrastructure as Code and how it relates to DevOps and Continuous Delivery.  The talk will provide an overview of some the commonly seen best practices and some tips on how and where to get started.  This talk will cover both beginner and advanced topics.  I will provide some examples and experiences using Chef, but will discuss general patterns applicable to most tools.

About the Speaker:

Mike McGarr is the founder of the DC Continuous Delivery Meetup, and the Director of Engineering Services Operations at Blackboard, Inc.  In addition to leading the ES:Operations team at Blackboard, Mike has also been implementing continuous delivery and devops principles.  Prior to joining Blackboard, Mike worked as a consultant in the DC area, most recently at Excella Consulting.  Mike has been developing Java/JVM applications for most of his career and is a Agile/XP/Kanban enthusiast.
