Hiking at Hemlock Overlook with trip to Winery afterwards.

With the Spring weather upon us it is the perfect time to go on a hike so please join me at Hemlock Overlook Park for a 5 mile hike. Below are the directions and trail map.

We will meet at the far end of the parking lot at 12:30pm and then head out for the hike at 12:45pm. The hike will take about 3 hours and afterwards we will head over to Paradise Springs Winery, which is right down the street for a wine tasting http://www.paradisespringswinery.com/

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Had a great time! Wish I stayed for the winery. I left after the hike because of another Meet-Up dinner scheduled for The Majestic in Old Town. When I got home, I got an e-mail saying it was cancelled. Oh, well.

Very sorry for having to cancel last minute. Car stopped in the middle of the road. Was able to restart but didn't want to risk it. Next time.

What is the skill/fitness level for this hike?

    April 8, 2013

    • Stacey

This hike is a loop that starts and ends in wooded upland, accumulating 1000 feet of elevation change along the way, so though it is not that difficult it is not a hike for beginners. If you can hike about 5 miles with small ups & downs you should be okay

he 6th graders did it last year

seems like at every hike there is a 25% drop out rate, people really need to get it together and just not put their name out there, like ie means nothing,I imagine many others didn't get to go because they changed plans and would have liked to go.DC metro hikers has a 72 hr cancelation ,or you no longer hike with that group, unless you have an excuse, but havin the Budweiser sat nite flu is not an excuse

I am looking forward to hiking with such an interesting group. A glass of cool, white wine after the hike sounds perfect.
