      Hi there -

      November 26, 2012

    • Heather

I know there is a bed-and-breakfast type accommodation on the Marriott Ranch. You need to call the Ranch directly to book a room. I'm not sure how many other options exist in the area but you could start there.

Good group of cowboys/cowgirls! Great weather, and the horses even trotted somewhat for many of us. Food was very tasty, as usual for this event.

Hi Don. Just an FYI that the group will be down one today. I was going to be Adrienne's +1, but need to bail b/c I'm not feeling well. I'll eat the cost unfortunately. Didn't want you waiting for the 20th person though. Have a great day!

I would like to carpool. This is on the way, right off of 66, and there is parking: Dunkin' Donuts, 14631 Lee Highway, Centreville, VA 20121 I'll be at the front door at 10:25--leaving by 10:30, wearing a red cap. Prefer to ride, but willing to drive. Anyone else who wants to carpool can post a comment and plan to meet here BEFORE 10:30.

    November 10, 2012

    • Barbara D.

I'm definitely interested in carpooling. If I can find Centreville, that would work for me.

Frances is going to take my spot tomorrow morning. I hope everyone has a nice time. The weather is supposed to be great.

Unfortunately, Susan and Onyx, we can't add more than 20 for the events. They will offer this again in the spring. If anyone who is signed up wants to sell you their spot, they can contact you individually before Sunday with the meetup email.
BTW: Weather looks great for Sunday!! Maybe even 70 degrees--but everyone should dress for 60 degrees!

  • Onyx L.

Hey guys, if you can't make it, please let me fill in! Of course, Susan, I am behind you. Good luck! :-)

Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to make it but my guests will attend in my place. Everyone is all paid up.

Sounds perfect! Hope you'll do it again, when I am going to be in town...

    November 5, 2012

  • Don

@ Peggy- Great question: Yes, we start at the Barn; after that it is about a 3 mile drive to the Ranch House for the catered barbecue lunch; after that it is about a 3 mile drive to the wine tasting. I changed the meetup directions to reflect that.

    November 5, 2012

  • Don

@Mary--Limited riding experience is not a problem. The horses are well-trained and we ride together and there are several staff members who ride with us.

    November 5, 2012

  • Mary F.

I have very limited horseback riding experience. Is this okay?

    November 4, 2012

  • Barbara D.

I'm pretty new in the area and am looking forward to seeing more of Virginia. Is there room in someone's car for me? I'm in Springfield, close to Alexandria.

    November 2, 2012

  • Kelly

Probably 2 of us are coming, we are waiting closer to time to commit for weather, since we are weather wimps

    October 31, 2012

  • Don

@Susan, your friend would have to pay the full price (as per write-up). The Marriott Ranch House (not a hotel) is a few miles away from the trail ride place. And then the wine tasting is a few miles away from that. Assuming she pays the full amount, she could go directly to the lunch--about 1:30-1:45.
@ Kelly, if it was a severe thunderstorm (e.g., with lightning) we could not ride. A little rain is different. They might have us wait it out.

    October 25, 2012

  • Kelly

I'm interested, what about severe rainy day? Does it get postponed or a rain or singe?

I asked what are the vegetarian options. Can someone please tell me what they are? Not sure why my question isn't getting answered.

    October 23, 2012

    • Lynn

I don't recall a veggie burger in the past, they did have a lot of vegetables. Sorry as a fellow vegetarian I know that isnt what you wanted to hear but I had plenty to eat last time.

      October 24, 2012

  • Don

Hi Allison. I believe the vegetarian option is something like a grilled veggie burger. Perhaps the other event host knows more specifically. You could also email Tammy, the meetup organizer.

    October 24, 2012

  • Don

@ Susan- There are vegetarian options for the catered lunch at the Marriott Ranch House.

    October 23, 2012

    • Susan W.

Hi, again... I have a friend who is scared of horses - but she would like to come for lunch and wine... If she came, would we be able to meet up with her at the hotel - or are we out on the trail with the horses when we have lunch and then go for wine tasting?

      October 23, 2012

  • Allison K.

Hi - what are the vegetarian options? Thanks!

    October 22, 2012

  • Don

@ Susan. You have the itinerary right! The food is absolutely delicious! It is a great way to spend a fall afternoon. You probably don't want to stay overnight around there...at least I'm not familiar with any place with entertainment.

    October 22, 2012

  • Susan W.

Hi, sounds like fun! So it is about 1.5 hours of riding, and then we eat lunch... and have wine, and then go home? If we decided to stay over night, is there some kind of entertainment? Oh, I bet the Bluerdige is beautiful this time of year!
