Please join us for a very special evening to raise funds for the flood relief efforts in Pakistan. The Charity Gala features cocktails and networking, a seated dinner, Planet DJ Productions and dancing, and a raffle and request for donations. The event is sponsored by Network of South Asian Professionals (NetSAP DC) and Professionals in the City. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the UN?s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and Aurat?s Motherland Flood Relief Campaign.

The 2010 Pakistan floods began in July 2010 following heavy monsoon rains. Present estimates indicate that over two thousand people have died and over a million homes have been destroyed since the flooding began. The United Nations estimates that more than 21 million people are injured or homeless as a result of the flooding, exceeding the combined total of individuals affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake. At one point, approximately one-fifth of Pakistan's total land area was underwater due to the flooding.

Join Us For This Extraordinary Fundraising Event Featuring:

- Cocktail Networking and Raffle Ticket Sales (Cash Bar)
- Hosted by Ayesha Gilani (Miss Pakistan World 2009, Beauty of Asia 2010), with remarks about the Flood
- Guest Speaker: Dr. Franklin Odo, former Director, Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program
- SAPAN Institute Performance
- Seated Dinner of Salad and Vegetarian Pasta
- Planet DJ Productions and Dancing
- Raffle Drawing and Request for Donations

The NetSAP DC Charity Gala has been a flagship event for over eight years. Each year the NetSAP DC Board of Directors tries to create a diverse program and find a unique location. What has been constant over the years is our purpose: to fundraise for worthy charities and organizations making a difference in DC Metro community or South Asia. In past years, NetSAP DC has donated funds to charities such as Asha for Education, the UN Foundation, the American Red Cross, Upakar-The Indo-American Foundation, Touch India, and several others.

The Network of South Asian Professionals (NetSAP DC) is a non-profit, non-partisan, volunteer-based 501(c)(3) organization committed to identifying and celebrating the diversity of South Asians in America by promoting professional development; encouraging community service activities; raising awareness of the South Asian culture; and providing forums for the discussion of important societal issues. As one of the largest local and national South Asian organizations, we represent over 6,000 individuals in the DC metro area with over 300 members.
